The US Army, US Navy, and US Marines have a book of recipes called the Quartermaster’s Cookbook. It’s a small compilation of 2k+ recipes of how to plan for 100 servings of any and everything.
Her epic meal preparation was known for over a decade. This included providing meals for everyone who joined the Gold Country AWANA program every Wednesday evening. This was a compilation of cooking gear, serving materials, and plates, and everything was ready in advance. Then there were the surprising meals that were so wonderful that a buffet restaurant would be jealous.

🍴 Simple Hot Dogs for One Hundred
Hot dogs remain one of the easiest and most affordable meals to prepare for a large group. For one hundred guests, purchase approximately 110 hot dogs and 110 buns to allow for seconds or unexpected visitors. Steam, boil, or grill the hot dogs until they are fully heated. Keep them warm in slow cookers, roasters, or covered pans. Simple toppings such as ketchup, mustard, relish, chopped onions, and sauerkraut allow people to customize their meal without increasing the budget. Add chips, fruit, or cookies when available. A humble meal prepared with care often brings more joy than an expensive menu.

Serving hot dogs is simple and efficient. Arrange the serving line so volunteers can place the hot dog in the bun while guests select their own toppings. This keeps the line moving and gives people the dignity of choosing what they enjoy. Have napkins available and offer water, lemonade, or coffee when possible. Some guests may have mobility concerns, so volunteers can also carry meals to tables or seating areas. A warm meal served with a smile creates a welcoming atmosphere that encourages conversation and fellowship.

A hot dog may seem ordinary, but it provides an opportunity to demonstrate extraordinary kindness. Volunteers can greet each person by name, listen to their stories, and offer encouragement. The meal becomes more than food; it becomes an invitation to friendship and hope. A simple question such as, “How can we pray for you today?” often opens doors that no sermon alone can reach. When the team serves with joy, guests leave knowing that they were seen, valued, and cared for. Sometimes the shortest path to the heart begins with a warm meal and a kind hand.

HYPERMiling: Smart Ideas to Boost Mileage
HYPERMiling Idea 101: Coast to a red light. That is an obvious. The difference is a couple of seconds and a bunch of gas.
I’ve been doing this wrong for the last week… There is a red light, I’m supposed to put it into NEUTRAL and coast. Going down a hill and into a curve… NEUTRAL again. Going down Grant’s Pass – please use your engine to slow you. (you get the idea.) Be smart, Drive from Coast to Coast.
A friend of mine mentioned that you cannot go into neutral with hybrid cars. For what it’s worth, you cannot also do this with electric cars, motorcycles, or airplanes. This idea is best used on good old-fashioned stick shift trucks, but I use it on my Ram 1500 6-cyl, with a full-sized electrical box truck.
