- Christ’s Teaching on Marriage
a. Marriage is Man & Woman – v. 4; Gen. 1:27
b. Marriage is Unified Oneness – vs. 5-6; Genesis 2:21-25; John 17:21
c. Marriage is Ordained by God – v. 6; Genesis 2:21-25 - Christ’s Teaching in Divorce
a. Divorce is a result of straight up sin. vs. 7-8; James 4:1-4
b. Divorce normally has adultery included v. 9
c. Divorce and Remarriage have Life Long Consequences - Christ’s Teaching on Marriage Protects the Children
a. Marriage is a place to bless children – vs. 13-15
Without the context of God-given Biblical marriage, it is impossible to insure a safe place to bless a child. Personal morality is extremely subjective and based on your opinion of the moment. It may be the opposite 5 minutes from now. The God of absolute truth and love provides the framework for a safe place where every child is nurtured and coached through Biblical principles.
b. Marriage is a place for evangelism – vs. 13-15; 2 Timothy 3:15
God’s idea of marriage starts with a relationship with Christ.
God’s idea for marriage has husband and wife living together with Christ.
God’s idea for marriage is to a place of safe blessing that leads children to Christ.
This was some tough teaching. Thank you dear friends for staying faithful to Christ and faithful to your marriage and families. Remember… Jesus did NOT focus on remarriage and did not even focus on divorce. The focus was on true marriage.
