A pastor from Moody Church recently wrote a book and asked the question: “What are some laws that Christians should seek to pass or enforce in order to provide justice for the poor?” My first reply was “Make churches accountable for serving their communities and feeding the poor.” After all, if there are so many verses in the Old Testament about caring for the widows, the fatherless and the poor, our tax laws should hold us accountable for benevolence. The New Testament sorted this issue out and gave several definitives. The first starts with a lifestyle of Living By Giving.
