The US Army, US Navy, and US Marines have a book of recipes called the Quartermaster’s Cookbook. It’s a small compilation of 2k+ recipes of how to plan for 100 servings of any and everything.
Her epic meal preparation was known for over a decade. This included providing meals for everyone who joined the Gold Country AWANA program every Wednesday evening. This was a compilation of cooking gear, serving materials, and plates, and everything was ready in advance. Then there were the surprising meals that were so wonderful that a buffet restaurant would be jealous.

Listen. Learn. Encourage.
This group already has the ability to think clearly and enjoy conversation. The Bible naturally becomes part of the discussion because everyone can participate. Rather than delivering a lecture, the leader asks thoughtful questions, listens carefully, and allows God’s Word to guide the conversation. Healthy friendships grow when people know they are heard.
Focus:
- 📖 Share God’s Word
- 👂 Listen well
- 💬 Learn each person’s story
- 🤝 Encourage one another
- 🌱 Help each person take one next step

🍽️ Recovery & Mission Groups
Listen. Learn. Be Patient.
Many guests already know the changes they need to make. What they often lack is someone willing to walk beside them. Like Jesus with Zacchaeus, the leader creates space for honest conversation instead of forcing it. As trust grows, people often begin identifying their own next steps. The leader becomes a faithful guide rather than simply a teacher.
Focus:
- 📖 Keep Christ at the center
- 👂 Listen more than you speak
- ❤️ Learn hopes and struggles
- 🕊️ Practice patience
- 🤝 Build trust over time
Recovery usually begins with relationship
🍽️ Street Outreach & Crisis Care
Listen. Discern. Protect.
Some people are unable to carry on a meaningful conversation because of intoxication, mental illness, trauma, or medical crisis. At this point, the first ministry is compassionate presence. Offer food and water, speak calmly, observe carefully, and determine whether immediate medical attention is needed. Safety for everyone remains important while treating each person with dignity and respect.
Focus:
- 📖 Show Christ’s compassion
- 👂 Listen for coherent responses
- 🩺 Watch for medical emergencies
- 🚑 Encourage emergency care when needed
- 🤲 Offer hope without pressure
Sometimes the most loving question is simply,
“Are you safe right now?”

HYPERMiling: Smart Ideas to Boost Mileage
HYPERMiling Idea 101: Coast to a red light. That is an obvious. The difference is a couple of seconds and a bunch of gas.
I’ve been doing this wrong for the last week… There is a red light, I’m supposed to put it into NEUTRAL and coast. Going down a hill and into a curve… NEUTRAL again. Going down Grant’s Pass – please use your engine to slow you. (you get the idea.) Be smart, Drive from Coast to Coast.
A friend of mine mentioned that you cannot go into neutral with hybrid cars. For what it’s worth, you cannot also do this with electric cars, motorcycles, or airplanes. This idea is best used on good old-fashioned stick shift trucks, but I use it on my Ram 1500 6-cyl, with a full-sized electrical box truck.
