“Pastor Verne teaching about “Our Hope in the Rapture” from 1 Thessalonians 4:15. Last Sunday, we discovered that there will be a future resurrection for all who believe that Jesus died and rose again (4:13-14). This Sunday, we’ll discover that there will be a future return of Jesus (4:15-17). God’s Word unveils a specific order of events accompanying the return of Jesus. Jesus will return in the clouds (v.16a). The bodies of Christians who have fallen asleep will rise from their graces (v.16b). Christians who are living will rise to meet Christ in the air (v.17a). All resurrected and raptured Christians will meet the Lord in the air and will forever be with Christ (v.17b). This blessed hope is our present reassurance (v.18). How are we to live until Jesus returns? The Apostle Paul explained to the Thessalonian Christians how those who are alive and remain are to be living. We are to be walking with God, working for God, and waiting on God. On a future and coming day, Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead. May we be diligent to receive the gospel, cherish God’s Word, and value our Lord more in comparison than anything else in this present world.”
