“Pastor Verne preaching on 1 Thessalonians 4:3, “A Hope that Abstains.” This verse teaches that the purpose of life is to follow the will of God. This was exemplified by the Lord Jesus when in the Garden of Gethsemane He prayed, “Not My will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42). God’s will is then explained as sanctification. The priority of life is to be set apart from sin and unto holiness. How is sanctification practically applied to our living? By pursuing a life of moral purity. Moral purity requires that we distance ourselves from the immorality of this world. Sexual immorality is all activity and intimacy that strays away from a relationship between one man and one woman in the covenant and union of marriage. As we live in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, may we live for the will of God, live in sanctification, and live set apart from immorality to love and serve our great God!”
