Everyone has heard Psalm 23 at and has found it to be comforting. If you are in the hospital or at the graveside of a friend, Psalm 23 is perfect quoted. David wrote this for everyday life, when life is going right. Then Jesus comes along in the New Testament and calls himself that specific Good Shepherd. - Personally For Me – verses 1 & 2
Deuteronomy 8:3 …man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD
Matthew 4:4 …It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
a. He gives eternal life.
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
b. They shall never perish.
John 3:16 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 John 2:25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. - Direction For Me – verses 3 & 4
Job 5:17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
Psalm 94:12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
