The US Army, US Navy, and US Marines have a book of recipes called the Quartermaster’s Cookbook. It’s a small compilation of 2k+ recipes of how to plan for 100 servings of any and everything.
Her epic meal preparation was known for over a decade. This included providing meals for everyone who joined the Gold Country AWANA program every Wednesday evening. This was a compilation of cooking gear, serving materials, and plates, and everything was ready in advance. Then there were the surprising meals that were so wonderful that a buffet restaurant would be jealous.

🍰 1️⃣ The First Layer — The Cake is the Foundation
I walked into the kitchen and there it was…
a humble bowl, cocoa like dark soil, flour like dust of the earth…
And the baker whispered:
“First, we build the base.”
Mix the dry… stir the wet…
fold it together like a promise…
Pour into the pan and into the oven it goes—
heat transforms it…
Just like:
“Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow…” (Isaiah 1:18)
The cake rises… not by striving… but by the right ingredients in the right order.

🍫 2️⃣ The Second Layer — The Mousse is the Covering
Now here comes the glory 😄
A soft, silky mousse…
whipped air and chocolate dancing together…
Spread it gently over the cooled cake—
not rushed… not heavy-handed…
It covers everything.
And I hear:
“Love covers a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)
The mousse doesn’t replace the cake—
it completes it.

Now we step outside…

HYPERMiling Idea 101: Coast to a red light. That is an obvious. The difference is a couple of seconds and a bunch of gas.
Its a simple concept to coast to a stoplight. Why do we insist on racing to that red light as if someone will steal that red light from us? WWJD? How Would Jesus Drive? It is a wise steward of our precious resources to be careful and not be in a hurry to STOP.
I drive a 2006 RAM truck in Seattle. Last month my mileage was 10MPG ! Pray for me. This week, the old truck is now at 13.5, because of (1) added idea – coasting to a stop light.
