COOKING FOR 100
The US Army, US Navy, and US Marines have a book of recipes called the Quartermaster’s Cookbook. It’s a small compilation of 2k+ recipes of how to plan for 100 servings of any and everything.
Her epic meal preparation was known for over a decade. This included providing meals for everyone who joined the Gold Country AWANA program every Wednesday evening. This was a compilation of cooking gear, serving materials, and plates, and everything was ready in advance. Then there were the surprising meals that were so wonderful that a buffet restaurant would be jealous.
ARE YOU KIDDING?!? OATMEAL? Pace yourself pilgrim. You know that you will be enjoying the wonderful blessings from the Lord in so many full and hearty meals. One needs to clear out the tank, if you know what I mean! So the value of healthy oatmeal for you and me is the same for those travelling or homeless or on a low budget. We need something other than spaghetti, pizza and burgers every meal.
OATMEAL IS SIMPLE GOODNESS. Add brown sugar and butter and life is great.
SERVING IDEAS:
Short fat cups are more re-useful than small soup bowls. Come back for coffee or seconds.
Multiple pots of hot water. For a group of 70 on the sidewalk of Belltown, Seattle, we always had 6 pump thermos. This was coffee and hot water.
Brown Sugar!!! This is a perfect addon. Mix it with regular sugar for easy pouring. I always took the 3 minutes to make the hot breakfast and talk with each man and woman who came for breakfast.
Butter is beautiful. You will need to have preportioned butter pads and a trash can every 3 feet. Those foil papers hit the ground so quick. Option #2 is a mellon ball scoop of butter in a tub.

The OATMEAL just kicked in and I need a toilet!
I’m not being gross when I ask “Can I use your restroom?” I really need to go! “Sorry, the restroom is for customers only.” Is the common answer that I get when I am walking through downtown. Now I am getting desperate, doing the potty dance while casually asking everywhere for an outhouse. I’m even looking for a corner of an alley to… no, that would be wrong and gross. I still gotta go.
I need a camping toilet. Bucket & Bag
It’s not perfect; but it’s better than the bushes at someone’s home. A THICK BLACK BAG and small, like a desk trash can would be the camping solution. If they have a tent, if there is a paint bucket, then a thick small black bag is the solution. It has to be discreet like your doggy poop bag, so it can be thrown away, discreetly. This is not a Gospel sermon opportunity; but it is an honest opportunity to follow the truth of the Gospel. (for a refresher course see James 1:27) every small idea adds to a great solution.
This much effort should be given in the bestest Evangelistic outreach with equal or more planning, prayer and preaching!
