Giving a Relationship is the Best Gift

You’ve given bags of food to the food bank. You’ve shared meals with the guy at the street corner. You know they want help UP, and not just a hand out. So how do you go from stranger to friend?

Jesus Went To Zacchaeus’ House for Dinner

This is the best way to see a life change. We recall the Bible example, in Luke 19, where Jesus told the short tax collector that he wanted to have dinner at the “publican’s” home. Zacchaeus had a repentant heart and was ready for a new life with Christ. Jesus had a focused purpose for the visit.

Invite a Soul to Lunch

When a man invites a man to have lunch at Denny’s, it is for a purpose. Wendy’s, McDs, BK, etc. are great places to share a meal… one-on-one. It’s not lecture time, its gracious my mentorship. This builds relationship.

Be Safe, Be Appropriate.

Men with men, women with women. If I am sitting in Denny’s alone with a girl, everyone will say that is trouble in the making. If my mom offers to sit with some guy at Carl’s Jr, you know that will never be safe. Avoid all appearance of wrong.
Plan how much you WILL spend. Let them know up front your plan and invite them to do what you are doing. “I’m getting a cheeseburger and reading my Bible. Would you like to join me?”
