Acts Chapter 22 – My Legal Rights As A Christian

It is a common thing to come into a problem with the unsaved and the unbelievers in life. We seek to have a peaceful way around problem solving. We hope to resolve the simple stuff in life; but in truth and in reality, what do we do when someone else crosses the line in business? Do we have any course of action that makes God look OK? Will our response cause mud to be thrown at the name of Christ? Even the Apostle Paul had to ask that question to ask what are My Legal Rights As A Christian?

…a message by Chaplain Aaron

When is it RIGHT to speak up for your Christian RIGHTS?

  1. Paul Spoke Greek to Gain Access – 21:37-40 + vs. 1-3
Acts 21:37 And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?
Acts 21:40 And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying, Acts 22:2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)
    a. He Spoke to Chief Captain in Greek – 21:37
    b. He Spoke to the Crowd in Hebrew – 21:40; 22:2
    c. He Spoke his Credentials – v. 3
  2. Paul Spoke In Defense of the Gospel – vs. 1-21
Acts 22:1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you. 2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)
    a. He Admitted His Kill Score – vs. 4, 5
    b. He Admitted His Commission – v. 5
    c. He Admitted His Intervention – vs. 6-9
    d. He Admitted His Conversion – vs. 10-16
Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
  3. Paul Spoke Up For His Body’s Sake – vs. 22-29
Acts 22:25 And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?
    a. Paul Preached – vs. 1-21
    b. The Crowd Spazzed Out – vs. 22, 23
    c. The Chief of Police Misunderstood – 21:37-40; 22:24-29
    Examination by scourging!
    d. Paul ASKS a legal Question – vs. 25
“Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?”

When we have been faithful to our calling, willing to suffer like Christ, and completed our task, then it is RIGHT to politely ASK a question. This is in God’s control in His Sovereign.

while you are going and growing, this week in Christ… May your heart be refreshed with songs and hymns and spiritual songs!
