There will always something or someone that will disappoint you. In 1775, a Spanish explorer Bruno de Heceta, found and noted a large bay, the mouth of a great river. We call it the Columbia River. In 1788, the English Captain John Meares attempted to locate Heceta’s river but failed. His view was obscured by the fog and the huge sandbars; so he said “This is not a cove that leads to the Columbia River.” He therefore dubbed the area Cape Disappointment. Psalm 43:2 why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
Psalm 43:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me?
Job knew disappointments – His 3 friends and his wife too!
Apostle Paul knew disappointments – 2 Corinthians 11:26
Jesus personally knew –Betrayal prophesied & fulfilled. (Isaiah 53:3; Zechariah 11:12; Matthew 26:47-56; Mark 14:10-11; Luke 22:47-53; John 18:1-14)
Hebrews 4:15 “tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin.” - God Wants Our Requests To Him – vs. 1, 3
a. Righteous Request God’s Examination
Psalm 43:1 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.
Job begged for God to judge his integrity and righteousness – Job 9:15 but I would make supplication to my judge. Job 13:18 Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.

Psalm 43:3 O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.
Psalm 97:11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
Psalm 112:4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

Psalm 43:2 For thou art the God of my strength:
Psalm 43:4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God. 5 hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Job asked for strength to worship – Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
Jeremiah encouraged sacrifices of praise – Jeremiah 17:26 “…bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the LORD.”
David asked for health so he could worship – Psalm 121:2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
When Disappointment Strikes… We need to be God’s example of faith to a faithless world. We should be like Paul and Silas: singing praises like in an inner prison just after getting our backs beaten for the Gospel. We should be full of the true praise to God so that our neighbors will ask…
