Acts Chapter 12 – Faith By Testing, Resolved By Prayer

For some odd reason, we as Believers are very human in our reactions to life. We love our creature comforts and we forget the struggles when things are doing well. When our Heavenly Father wants to get our attention, we turn a deaf ear to His still small voice. He will coach us, nudge us and help us remember; but it seems we only respond to God in Faith By Testing, Resolved By Prayer.

Acts Chapter 12 – Faith By Testing, Resolved By Prayer
…a message by Chaplain Aaron

1 Timothy 2:1-4

  1. Death Grabs Our Attention – vs. 1-4
    Acts 12:2
“And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. 3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also.”
    a. Herod was no PC joe – he was a vicious local politician. Remember John the Baptist?
    b. Apostle James the brother of Apostle John. (The 12 – Matthew 10:5-15; Mark 6:7-13; John 1:35-51; Luke 9:1-6)
    c. During the Feast of Unleaven Bread – Leviticus 23:6-8
It is at the times of our deepest despair that we are listening to anything and everything that God might say. We beg for a word from Jesus and cling to the smallest whisper from the Holy Spirit. We’ve all been there.

    1 Thessalonians 5:17
  2. Prayer & Fasting will FOCUS Our Attention – vs. 5-19
    Acts 12:5
“Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.”
    a. “I thought it was a vision” – vs. 5-10
    Acts 12:9
And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
    b. All Night Prayer Meeting – vs. 11-19
    Acts 12:5
“Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”

    Matthew 9:37, 38
  3. Now That He has Our Attention – vs. 15-25
    Acts 12:16
“But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.”
    a. Knock, Knock, Knock… – vs. 12, 13, 16 “But Peter continued knocking”
This is like Jesus knocking on the heart of the Believer – Revelation 3:20
    b. Unbelieveable – vs. 15, 16
    c. Peter’s Testimony – vs. 17-19
and yes, Herod died unrepentant – vs. 20-23
    d. The Word of God grew & Multiplied – vs. 24, 25

John 4:35 “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”
Matthew 9:37 “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

May God bless and direct you as you walk with Him in spirit and in truth. Now… as you are rolling along, here are 2 Hours of Accapella Hymns. Enjoy !
